It came down to the last two balls, with CSK needing 11 runs, but Sandeep Sharma, preferred to bowl the last over ahead of Jofra Archer, held his nerve and got his team over the line by six runs. With 20 needed off the last over, MS Dhoni had the opportunity to wind back the clocks and play the finisher’s role, but he holed out at deep midwicket off the first ball. Jamie Overton kept the game alive with a six off the fourth delivery, but the last two balls only produced four more runs. 

CSK will rue the PowerPlay it had, with just 42 runs coming in the first six overs. RR, thanks to Nitish Rana, scored 79 in the same phase, and that eventually turned out to be the difference.
